Properties, advantages and disadvantages of bamboo fabric
Bamboo fabric has all the qualities typical of materials made from natural raw materials. At the same time, it is called innovative due to its many unique features.
It quickly absorbs and evaporates moisture. When moisturized, it does not stick to the skin and dries quickly.
Bamboo is a material that contains micropores and conducts air perfectly. This allows the skin to breathe freely and not overheat, making bamboo clothing ideal for the summer season. The breathability of the fabric promotes deep and healthy sleep, which makes bamboo bedding, linen and pajamas especially popular.
Maintains optimal heat exchange. Thanks to this ability, things can be used all year round.
Reflects sunlight and, unlike most natural materials, is not destroyed by ultraviolet radiation. The products protect the skin from dangerous UV radiation, do not fade in the sun and retain rich shades for a long time.
It has an antistatic effect. The fiber is not able to become electrified and accumulate static when rubbed.
Contains a unique antibacterial bioagent. This provides the products with excellent antiseptic and bactericidal properties. The amino acids contained in the fiber have an anti-inflammatory effect.
Does not cause allergies or other adverse reactions. Soft, pleasant to the touch items are ideal for children and people with sensitive skin.
Does not absorb odors, retains freshness, as if just washed. In terms of hygienic properties, it surpasses many natural materials.
The density of bamboo and its elasticity are at a very high level, its surface is smooth and slightly shiny, which gives it a natural charm. It is easily formed into draperies and has an elegant appearance.
Textile manufacturers are increasingly choosing bamboo over cotton. Fabrics woven from a large number of threads are thinner and lighter than their cotton counterparts, but are superior in strength, which is maintained even when wet.
The material has few disadvantages. Mechanically produced bamboo fabric is expensive. In addition, the material is often counterfeited, and the prefix bamboo is nothing more than a marketing ploy."
Types of bamboo materials, combination with other fibers
There are three main types of bamboo yarn, these are:
Bamboo viscose (bamboo vicose, bamboo rayon). It is obtained by a chemical method. It has a silky texture, which is why it is called artificial bamboo silk. This is the main material used in the textile industry.
Bamboo linen. Produced mechanically. The material is rough to the touch and resembles flax. The most expensive type.
Bamboo lyocell. The production is based on chemical treatment, but with the use of safe chemicals.
They do not change the structure of the fibers and do not have a harmful effect on the environment.
Bamboo combines well with other natural fibers - it can include flax, cotton, eucalyptus lyocell, which allows you to increase the properties of natural raw materials.
Another type of fabric is carbon bamboo, obtained from bamboo fibers and charcoal. It has high moisture absorption capacity and pronounced antibacterial properties. It is used as a filler for bedding - pillows and blankets.
Also in demand is the Turkish fabric triga bamboo, which contains 70% plant fibers and 30% microfiber. It is a single fabric with different textures and a different fiber composition on the outer and inner sides.
Products that combine natural fibers with synthetic ones, such as polyester, nylon or elastane, are in high demand. The combination of bamboo fiber with such fabrics increases the elasticity and durability of the material, extending its service life.
